PEOPLE can get a helping hand shifting any Christmas weight with a new range of exercise and weight management classes.

The selection of courses, which include everything from Egyptian dance to Latin rhythm cardio workouts, are held at St Hild’s C of E School, in King Oswy Drive.

The school has held various community courses in the past, which have always proved very popular, and now organisers are urging people to get signed up for the new classes.

The sessions, which run from a Monday to Thursday, all take place on an evening.

Dance and circuits classes both run on a Monday and Tuesday while participants can enjoy a kettlebells exercise class on a Wednesday evening, said to be great at working to improve flexibility and toning.

An Egyptian dance class also runs on a Wednesday from 6pm-7pm, with organisers pointing out that the class is particularly beneficial for those with lower back and knee problems.

A Zumba class is held on a Thursday as well as a free weight management course, ran by senior health trainers who will give helpful pointers on losing weight and controlling a balanced diet.

People can also learn more about healthy eating at a cookery course held on a Tuesday and Wednesday from 6pm-8pm.

Julie Fletcher, community manager at St Hild’s, said: “All of these new courses are great for shifting any weight gained as a result of all of those mince pies.

“Our courses usually prove very popular so it would be nice to get a similar response this time.”

For more information about the courses including cost and times call Julie on (01429) 242243.
