Consequences of past neglect

I READ the headline, How could they do this? about morons who desecrated a grave by stealing a plaque and a personalised ornament from a churchyard (Mail, February 14).

The answer is because they can.

Felons of today’s society do not fear the law because, as I see it, there is no law for the criminal.

They dwell securely within the boundary of the political correct fraternity and the idiotic, lenient Human Rights Act.

Parental responsibility for many of the young is a farce as the parents ignore the role of exemplar to the child and lay it firmly on the state.

A nanny state emerged and now we are suffering the consequences of past negligence.

In many cases it is not only the very young but also those who should know better, as we witness total ignorance and attitude in their behaviour, and disregard for people’s property and the victims’ human rights.

Older criminals who abuse the law, and are addicted to drink and drugs, are punished with an Asbo as a discipline after they offend, which they treat with scorn.

In the favour of the adolescent and the teenager of today, there is a percentage that knows the rights and wrongs of growing up in lawless Britain and they are a credit to their parents.

Unfortunately we still have to contend with the lawless and the addicts, the latter more to be pitied than punished.

We progress in a society that is torn between the good and the bad, of law and disorder, while the Government cannot differentiate between one and the other, more to the Government’s discredit and the suffrage of the ingenuous of our society.
