YOUNGSTERS had sporting success when they took part in a week of fun and games.
A host of sports were on offer at the Stranton Centre to keep children occupied over half-term.
The primary school pupils, aged five to 11, took part in a variety of games including hockey, dodgeball and football.
Dave Bradley, a sports coach at Stranton Primary School, said: “Everyone had a great time and went home with a medal. Some got bigger trophies for what they had done.
“The emphasis is on the children being active and not out on the streets and for it to be affordable.
“It’s for all abilities and is about taking part, playing as a team and having a good time.”
The club has a sports session from 10am-1pm every Saturday.
Mr Bradley said people can pop into the meetings to have a look at what is on offer and sign up.
He added: “We have started our own sports club and it’s going well.
“I would invite any youngster from any school in the town to come down and have a go. It’s a lot of fun and it would be good to see even more people taking part.
“It’s really important to get children involved in sport at a young ages as it has so many benefits. Hopefully the club will keep on growing.”
