DANNY Wilson will attempt to solve Hartlepool United's problem position as the clock ticks down to the start of the season.
Pools return to pre-season training this Friday with just one fresh face currently scheduled to meet up with his new team-mates – former Nottingham Forest midfielder Alan Power.
Wilson is still trying to bring in a couple of signings before the season's opener against Colchester on August 9, with a new striker and right-back the priorities.

Six players were used in the problematic right-back slot last season, with Tony Sweeney and Jamie McCunnie getting the most shouts in defence.
Keegan signs Spider-man>>Click for latest transfer gossip>>But Wilson sees both Sweeney and McCunnie as midfielders and is on the lookout for a right-back to make the position his own.
"It was not ideal using so many players at right-back, but I thought Tony Sweeney did very well there towards the end of the season," said Wilson.
"He has got good fitness and good energy so if push comes to shove we can play him there.
Leeds promotion 'looks nailed on'>>"Jamie McCunnie can fit in there as well but in an ideal world we want a specialist player there."
Wilson is keeping his cards close to his chest over whether there will be any new arrivals before the end of the week, insisting the transfer situation can change in an instant.
But one player who doesn't look like he is making the move to Victoria Park is former Manchester United youngster Ritchie Jones.
The midfielder was released by Sir Alex Ferguson last week after the 21-year-old's contract at Old Trafford expired.
Pools were rumoured to be one of a number of clubs pursuing Jones, along with the likes of Tranmere, Blackpool, Burnley and Scottish Premier Division side Hearts.
Wilson admitted Pools had scouted the former England U19 international last season, but the arrival of Power had put any move for Jones on the back burner.
"It is true that we had an interest in him last year," said Wilson.
"But there are areas that we have to identify before that and maybe bringing in Alan Power has maybe stalled that one a bit."
