DENIS Behan will gladly accept any opportunities to feature for Hartlepool United to regain his sharpness for the League One opener.
Behan only returned to the Pools fold in the final two weeks of last season after spending a month on the sidelines with ankle ligament damage.

The 26-year-old spent the summer building up his fitness to be ready for Pools' first league fixture at Rochdale on Saturday, August 7.

But the ex-Cork City striker is still lacking match fitness and was happy to play the opening 45 minutes in last night's 3-0 win at South Shields.

Behan said: "In Holland I got the first half of the first game and the last 10 of the second.

"It's minutes you want with four more friendly games coming up.

"That's what you need at the start of the season to get your sharpness up.

"I'll take minutes anywhere I can get them so that I can try to get in the team for the start of the season."
