HOW many readers have grasped the true significance of the move by 22 MPs (all Labour and Lib Dem) to have the MP's oath of allegiance to the Queen scrapped?
These "Quislings in waiting" want the loyal oath replaced by one that swears allegiance to their constituents, sounds wonderfully democratic – doesn't it? Or is it?
The terms Queen/throne/crown are all synonymous terms meaning "head of state/coun
try" and not one person.
Under our constitution, which just about survives, the people alone hold power anyway. MP's are "loaned" power temporarily, for a parliamentary term, to govern in our name.
At the end of this term they return that power to US. It is this fundamental tenet of our democratic process that is at serious risk.
The smokescreen begins to clear a bit when you observe that this group of MPs have enlisted the help of lawyer who has said taking that the loyal oath (is, yes, you've guessed) "in breach of their human rights".
Of more significance is the fact that for the last 35 years, over parliaments of both complexions, our sovereignty has been eroded by passing our powers of governance to the un-democratic – anti-democratic, European Union.
All MPs who have allowed this to happen are in breach of their oath of allegiance to the people – the country.
Acts of treachery on this scale must be punished. Only you, the voter, can do this by removing them from office and insisting that all our powers of governance are repatriated to parliament.
When Parliament resumes in September it will be interesting to see how many "Eurosceptic" Tories actually point out the truth behind these further moves to weaken, and eventually destroy, our sovereignty.
You will, however, see ex-Tory MP, now UKIP MP, Bob Spink spelling out the dangers posed to our constitution by many of our "elected representatives".
