TO QUOTE a local politician: "The sense of pride and honour I have to be able to lay a wreath at the town's war memorial is very strong and something which I take incredibly seriously".
So says our local MP after laying a wreath at the weekend.

Pity his party didn't think about honour when they lied to the country before sending the young men and women to die in Iraq.

Pity his party didn't take sending them into harm's way without the proper equipment more seriously.

Perhaps then we can take our politicians more seriously and give them the respect and honour they like to think they deserve.

Colin Hunt,
Southbrooke Avenue,
Hartlepool.
