THE WORDS "democracy" and "justice" are totally abused in modern Britain, primarily because the concepts have been so cruelly destroyed by our political establishment – this wretched Labour Government being the worst offender.
With Parliamentary democracy having been neutered by the passing of our sovereign powers to the anti-democratic EU, and the judiciary now serving the needs of the criminal and the terrorist at the expense of the victim and the law abiding, we have ar
rived at a truly dangerous point.

Contempt for public opinion is seen on a daily basis.

The story, There's no stopping Le Clem (Mail, November 14) illustrates my point perfectly.

This asbestos-ridden, toxic hulk has been refused entry on health and safety grounds from India, Turkey, Greece and Bangladesh.

Yet it has now been granted permission to be dismantled in Hartlepool.

Who granted this permission? Not an accountable democratically-elected body but three law lords.

The benefactor of their decision, Able UK, you will recall was refused permission to dismantle the so-called ghost ships by Hartlepool Borough Council.

This in turn was overturned by the Appeals Tribunal, again an unaccountable quango.

My respect for the efforts of Iris Ryder and Jean Kennedy to protect the health and well-being of present and future generations is on record.

The people of this country must take back control of their destiny via the ballot box by soundly rejecting the political establishment that has so cruelly betrayed them.
