Time will tell on gate

WE have been asked to comment on the removal of the gate on the footpath in Mountston Close (Mail, March 27). There has been a lot of publicity on this subject and many views given both for and against.
We live opposite the gate and still think that Coun Jackson and other parties involved made the wrong decision. But time will tell whether they made the right one.

Mrs Loynes, who was against the alleygate and wanted the structure removed, said: "We can get on with our normal lives now."

Well, maybe she can, because according to her she has not experienced anti-social behaviour. But a lot of her neighbours have. Or are we all imagining it?

A final comment. Why did some Saddleston Close residents campaign to get the gate removed?

They said "because the anti-social behaviour transferred to their footpath" when Mountston Close was closed off. What anti-social behaviour?

Mr & Mrs R Rigg,
Mountston Close,
Hartlepool.
