IT was a workplace romance to melt any heart.
Love first blossomed for Elaine Alsop and Paul Egan when Elaine, now 32, started work for Paul, now 44, at his Hartlepool tattoo studio in 2002.
“I had already been in there to get my first tattoo and I went back years later to ask for a job,” said Elaine.
“I started working for him and doing body piercing.
“We just got on and started going out as friends. We got engaged a month after we started going out.”
In fact, the studio was to play another part in the love story. Elaine explained: “That’s where Paul proposed to me – while the shop was open. But there were no customers in at the time.”
Eighteen months of wedding planning followed and it all led to the a beautiful wedding at Wynyard Hall with their children Danielle Egan, aged eight, Joshua Egan, aged seven, and 20-month old Alexandra Egan all playing a part on October 14.
“It was just fantastic,” said Elaine, from the Foggy Furze area of Hartlepool.
First came the ceremony at the Wynyard Hall Chapel, in which Elaine and Paul were joined by around 80 friends and family. It was followed by a reception in the hall and an evening gathering at Wynyard with 120 guests.
Chief bridesmaid was Elaine’s sister, Ruth, and she was attended by daughters Danielle and Alexandra, as well as niece Lucy Fitzpatrick, and Louise Simon.
Son Joshua and nephew Zac Fitzpatrick were page boys, and Elaine was given away by her dad, Dave.
Paul’s best man was Steve Anderson, and Colin Alsop, the bride’s uncle, was usher.
The couple had planned their first dance for some time, and the guests were stunned as they surprised everybody with a fantastic routine, before being entertained by top tribute act, Kings Ov Leon.
Elaine said, “Everything went perfectly.
“A Secret Garden in Elwick Road did a fantastic job with the flowers, and the cake, which was provided by Yummy Treats in Hartlepool, was an absolute masterpiece”.
Add to all that a rodeo bull and a magician and it all amounted to a great day.
The couple did not have a honeymoon, as they are planning a family holiday to Disneyland next year.
