AN award-winning designer’s artwork is being displayed at a gallery.
Claire A Baker, a lecturer in textiles and surface design at Cleveland College of Art & Design recently won the prestigious Acquisition Award at Contextile 2012 in Portugal and some of the sample collars she produced for that acclaimed textile exhibition can be seen in her new exhibition ‘Claire A Baker – Collector’.
Her latest exhibition ‘illustrates the relationship between Claire’s inspiration and her creative vision, showcasing textiles in a somewhat unexpected manner’.
Claire often visits vintage, antique & collectors fairs, and is a regular visitor to ‘junk’ shops such as ‘Land of Oz’ in Hartlepool. She either uses the objects themselves within her pieces or is inspired by the sense of reminiscence and the past.
The exhibition is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 10am until 3pm until May 17 at FOLIO Gallery, Church Square, Hartlepool.
