LOVEBIRDS will be able to walk down an aisle with a difference to renew their vows.

The Asda store, in Peterlee, is running a Valentine’s Day competition with the ultimate prize of a wedding vow renewal service performed in the Surtees Road-based supermarket.

The store’s chaplain, Jenny Heath, will officiate at the service on February 14 in the supermarket foyer in front of guests and passing shoppers.

The lucky couple will each win an outfit from the store’s George clothing department and have their hair styled by Peterlee-based Seraph Hair and Beauty ready for the service.

They will be treated to champagne and chocolates ahead of the service and after renewing their vows they will be whisked off in a Beauford vintage car provided by Wingate-based Exclusive Wedding Cars for a meal at the Black Bull pub, in Old Shotton.

All they have to do is nominate their partner or a couple they know and say why they deserve to win.

The store’s activities co-ordinator, Karen Bell, said: “We held this a couple of years ago and it was really good. “A member of staff and his wife actually won it.

“Customers in that area stopped and the

couple’s friends and family watched the service.

“Colleagues and other people came out to see it and it was really nice.

“It’s a brilliant way of showing a person’s love for their partner on Valentine’s Day.”

Anyone wanting to be in the running for the competition can get application forms from the store’s customer service desk.

They must provide the name and telephone number of the person or couple they are nominating and say why they deserve the prize.

Entries must be handed back into customer services by February 7 and the winners will then be notified.
