Children’s favourite’s Charlie and Lola come to the North-East this half-term with a new live show at Newcastle’s Northern Stage

Charlie and Lola are favourites with 3 to 7 year olds everywhere (and their parents!) and this delightful brother and sister are back touring nationally in a brand new play – Charlie and Lola’s Extremely New Play, on at Northern Stage during October half term.

Charlie and Lola paid a very special visit to Northern Stage on Saturday 18 September to meet some of Northern Stage’slittlest performers.

Children taking part in Open Stages – weekly drama workshops where 5-7 and 8-12 year olds work with a professional director to create an original piece of theatre based on their ideas – met the CBeebies TV stars before final rehearsals for their half term performance. The show follows the success of Charlie and Lola’s Best Bestest Play, which thrilled 1000s of children, including those of celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, Geri Halliwell and Simon Pegg.

Charlie and Lola are completely excited to be back on stage with their Extremely New Play - and this time they’re bringing along Sizzles the Dog!

Children over the age of 3 will love this extra special, brand new show, written just for them, in which everything looks and sounds just right.

Enter a magical journey through the seasons, as Charlie and Lola discover that everything is different and not the same.

What happens when Lola and her best friend Lotta say they will honestly and promisedly look after Sizzles?

And what

happens when they follow Charlie and his best friend Marv on a Pirate Squidbones adventure? Playful, funny and full ofsurprises, this extremely new play about friendship and adventures is a treat for everyone.

Charlie and Lola’s Extremely New Play uses specially made puppets.

Adaptor Jonathan Lloyd and director Roman

Stefanksi wanted the show to be familiar yet surprising, recognisable yet distinctly different. The show is presented by five puppeteers.

Charlie and Lola appear as cut-out cartoon characters in the same magical world they inhabit in the books and TV series.

From pink milk to party rings, everything you expect is there!

Charlie and Lola’s Extremely New Play lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes with interval and is ideal for ages 3+.

The show is on at Northern Stage from 28-30 October and is part of whole week of family entertainment during October

half term, including a special Open Stages performance on Saturday 25 October at 3pm.
