A husband and wife dancing team have returned to competition in style.
Hartlepool woman Adele Jang Don and her South Korean husband, Jang SeHyoung Don took a break from contests after Adele had her first child, Sung Hee Jang.
But they are back and are already recording huge successes.
Adele told Dance fever: “We danced in Miami in February and came second in the open Latin category which for us to go there and dance for England is very good.
“My mother-in-law also came to watch us and looked after the baby while we danced. Everyone came up to us to congratulate us as they have followed us on Facebook.”
The couple then dance in the IDTA Korean Dance Teachers Association competition and won both the Open Ballroom and Open Latin sections.
“We were amazed as, after having a baby, we felt we were not on top form,” said Adele.
The couple now plan to stay in Korea until the end of June. Adele explained: “Jang has to finish his teaching contract with Sung Kyunkwan University.”
There was other great news as well for the couple as their son Sung Hee has had his “Pek Il” celebration to mark his first 100 days of life.
Adele explained: “It is a huge Korean tradition for the baby’s birthday. It shows they will live to be healthy and happy for many years to come.”
The Koreans have taken the couple to their hearts.
They have clinched a sponsorship deal with a South Korean shoe company, while Adele’s dresses are also sponsored.
The couple will be available for coaching, teaching, lectures, shows and demonstrations when they return to Hartlepool, to be based at the Carol Hammond Dance Studio in Dalton Street.
