A theatre wants to hear from keen dancers in the Hartlepool area.
And anyone who takes up the golden opportunity could be a step away from their moment in the spotlight.
Sunderland Empire’s theatre summer school, Stage Experience, is staging the show Footloose. The cast will be made up of local people who come through auditions planned next month.
Stage Experience, which has run for eight years, is a two-week theatre summer school, which aims to give nine to 25 year olds the chance to perform or be part of a production team.
They will work with the experts and train in singing, dancing, acting and technical theatre, before taking to the stage for four live performances at the Empire Theatre in August.
Those interested must complete an application form by Friday, May 3. Auditions will then be held on Saturday, May 25.
They will run from 9am for 9-13 year olds, and from 1.30pm for 14-25 year olds, with call backs on Sunday, May 26. Everyone will be taught a song and dance from the show and then required to perform these in small groups.
A spokesman said: “Applicants shouldn’t be nervous about the process. We do our best to make the day as fun as possible, rather than scary.”
Hollie Coxon, creative learning manager at the Sunderland Empire, wants to encourage anyone with an interest in musical theatre or dance to take part.
The application form can be downloaded from www.facebook.com/SunderlandStageExperience or from Hollie Coxon on (0191) 5661056 and firstname.lastname@example.org. Completed forms must be returned, together with 4 passport photographs, to: Stage Experience, Sunderland Empire, High Street West, Sunderland, SR1 3EX.
