These twinkle-toed dancers wowed the judges at a regional competition, and brought a host of cups and shields home.

They are all members of the Carol Hammond Dance Studio, based in Dalton Street, Hartlepool.

Dancers aged from five to 59 competed against the best in the area to qualify for the International Dance Teachers Association Nationwide Ballroom and Latin American finals.

Members came away with a host of first, second and third places in five varieties of ballroom and Latin American dance.

The finals are held at the impressive Blackpool Winter Gardens in April next year.

Teacher Carol Hammond said: “I’m just very pleased with everybody. They all danced their very best and I couldn’t ask for more.

“Now, we all have to keep working hard for April because they will be up against the best of the best.”

The qualifying round for the Tyne Tees area was held at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre earlier this month.
