The pumpkin with a punch

LOVE the food, love the name. That’s my summary of this popular town centre sandwich bar.

And if I had just one issue with the place, it’s this – how on earth do you choose when every option on the menu is mouth-watering?

It was 12.30pm and midweek when I called in and the compact little venue was heaving with customers.

Thankfully, it gave me time to consider whether to plump for a panini or baked potato, a wrap or an omelette.

And it wasn’t helping that a delicious vanilla slice was directly at eye-level! So was a very tempting chocolate brownie.

In the end, I went for a chicken and stuffing sandwich on white bread with an extra addition of mixed pepper.

The chicken was filling, the stuffing fresh and tasty with a bite to it, and the bread was light as a feather.

At £2.40, it was superb value and I was chastising myself for not ordering two.

Other alternatives on the menu included six other chicken options such as Mexican, Cajun and Coronation, vegetarian choices including brie, grape and walnut; goat’s cheese, tomato and basil; and Cheddar, spring onion and pickle.

Salad boxes are there for those on a health kick and the baked potato line-up includes chilli con carne, chicken curry and prawns.

There’s omelettes, breakfast choices ... you get the idea. It’s good.

And if you wanted to be really good, it also does a “sin-free” meal each day with meals such as sweet potato, spinach and red pepper frittata and salad.

Beats bringing a baitbox into work every day.

Wonder how long it would take me to go through the whole menu.
