HUNDREDS of dancers will descend on a Hartlepool venue for the town’s second major festival in a month.
The Hartlepool Stage Festival starts tomorrow and will see 1,000 performances during five days of competition.
Dance schools from Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and South Shields will be among those represented.
The organiser Geoff Lucas said: “You can expect up to 1,000 performances and each school will be bringing around 80 children. It is going to be dynamic.”
Geoff said the audience can expect standards which are easily the rival of the top competitions in London.
“The dancers from the North East compete nationally and usually do very well. It is certainly not a lesser standard in this region. It compares very favourably.”
Competitions will be held in solo, duets, trio and group sections.
Tickets to watch the event cost £4 a day and £2.50 for children and pensioners. Weekly tickets cost £15 for the five days and the festival starts at 9am each day from tomorrow until Friday, June 3.
All tickets are available on the door.
Geoff was also the organiser of the British Association of Teachers of Dance stage festival which was held at the same venue over six days last month.
