BRIGHT young star Georgia Lennon is on the road to success after winning a place on a prestigious summer course.

The talented Hartlepool dancer auditioned for Youth Music Theatre UK (YMTuk) in February and got a fantastic result at the first time of asking.

Proud mum Nicola Lennon, 42, said: “She did so well and she was offered a place on Project Cuba – The Salsa Sisters which is one of Youth Music Theatre UK’s summer productions in 2012.”

But the offer is so much more than just an appearance in a theatre show.

Georgia will spend two weeks during the summer holidays in Plymouth on a residential course which will cover all aspects of music theatre.

Nicola added: “It will include writing, composing, choreography and performance.

“She will also work with experienced artistic staff including Steven Dexter who is currently the director of Loserville the Musical, starring Gareth Gates, which has just premiered at The West Yorkshire Playhouse, in Leeds.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Georgia and she is thrilled to have auditioned successfully.”

The family paid tribute to everyone who had helped the 13-year-old achieve her stage dream.

Georgia is a pupil at English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College and performed in the school’s production of We Will Rock You, in November last year.

Nicola said: “It was an amazing show and she sings in the school choir called EMS Youth Voices who recently performed at The Royal Albert Hall in Worldsong – An Olympic Gala at Easter.

“The school are very supportive of Georgia’s singing and performing.”

Georgia has tuition in singing and piano at The Northern School of Music where she recently sat her Grade 7 Music Theatre exam (London College of Music) and passed with a distinction.

She has also won a place in the Hartlepool Music and Arts Festival Final at the Town Hall Theatre, in Raby Road, in July.

She was also invited to audition for the girls choir at The Sage, in Gateshead, called Quay Lasses.

Nicola said: “She auditioned last month and has been offered a place to start in September.”

Georgia also dances at Elwick Academy of Dance/Northern Arts Academy, based in Elwick Road, in Hartlepool, and will be taking part in their forthcoming production of Alice at The Town Hall Theatre, Hartlepool from July 19 to 21.
