FITNESS enthuiasts will get themselves in a spin this weekend to raise money for charity.
The Life Centre Gym – based at High Tunstall College of Science – has arranged a 12-hour sponsored spinathon on Sunday in order to raise money for the Georgia Hart Appeal.
Georgia, who is a pupil at the Elwick Road-based school, has been diagnosed with a rare condition called Friedreich’s Ataxia.
The condition causes damage to the nervous system, and can also lead to diabetes and heart disease.
Cheryl Laycock, general manager of the Life Centre, said: “We aim to stay on the bikes from 8am when the doors open until 8pm without the wheels stopping once.
“It’s extremely challenging but I have faith that everyone taking part will have the right mentality and determination.”
This event is open to gym members along with the general public, though anyone wanting to try out other sessions which are on throughout the day are asked to donate £2 to the appeal.
