A CHARITY is appealing to runners from Hartlepool and east Durham to lace up their trainers to help raise vital funds.
Action for Children is looking for volunteers to compete in the Great North Run, which takes place between Newcastle and South Shields on September 18.
Around 50,000 people tackle the 13-mile course every year, and so far more than 100 runners have signed up to help Action for Children raise cash to help disadvantaged, vulnerable and neglected young people.
Katie Drummond, from Action for Children, said: “We are looking for runners of all abilities to come and run with our team. We have over 100 runners taking part and we’d love to welcome others to sign up with us and raise as much as they can in terms of sponsorship.”
Anyone taking part in the race and who would like to be part of the Action for Children team is asked to contact Katie on (0191) 2610030 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
