RUNNERS are urged to sign up for the popular Marina 5-Mile road race.
Entry is now open for the race, which is taking place on Sunday, April 1, but people are reminded that only 500 places are available.
The race has always proved extremely popular in the past with all of the spots taken weeks before the gun goes off so keen runners are encouraged to guarantee their place as soon as possible.
People can download an entry form now.
The race, which will get underway at 10.30am, is the usual fast and flat course from Hartlepool Maritime Experience, down the seafront to Seaton Carew then back to the Maritime Experience for the finish.
The event always proves popular with runners of all ages and abilities.
Last year’s event saw Ricky Stevenson speed to his third consecutive victory on the course in a time of 24 minutes 24 seconds.
The women’s race was won by Chester-le-Street’s Tracy Millmore.
Prizes will be on offer for the men’s and women’s race at this year’s event as well as the senior and veteran categories.
People must be aged 16 years or older on the day of the race to take part.
The entry fee is £10 for club members or £12 for unattached athletes and the closing date for postal entries is Saturday, March 24.
