A GROUP of hairdressers left the scissors and hairdryers behind when they embarked on a fun walk for a worthy cause.

Staff from Charisma Hair & Beauty, in Miers Avenue, Hartlepool (above) took part in the charity walk which raised money for the intensive care unit at the University North Tees Hospital, Stockton.

The event was organised after one of the employees’ mothers was cared for in the critical care unit.

The trip, from Lloyds Bar, in Hartlepool, to Horden Comrades Club – plus an in-shop raffle – raised £1,578.33 with Barclays Bank kindly matching the sum penny-for-penny, so a total of £3,156.66 was accumulated.

Donna Terry, one of the stylists who took part in the walk, said: “Everyone was over the moon. We did not expect to raise that amount of money.

“We only thought we would raise a couple of hundred pounds and we can’t believe what we achieved.”
