SHOPS staff cycled through the pain barrier to raise cash for charity.
The dedicated team at the Boots store at Hartlepool Marina spent a day on an excercise bike, donated by local gym Fit4Less, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Miles for Macmillan ride is the latest in a series of monthly charity events organised by the staff, which also include a 1920s tea party and a sponsored walk that have already raised more than £1,200 for Boots’ chosen charity.
The ride featured a ‘guess the miles’ competition, with Boots customers making a small donation to guess how many miles the store staff would cycle throughout the day, with a goodie-bag prize for the winner.
Boots store manager Zoe France, 39, said: “The buzz was fantastic and the staff were really up for it.
“We may have to up our target for the year from £3,000 to £5,000, which is amazing.
“Everybody is touched or knows somebody who has been affected by cancer, and it makes you feel proud to see everyone getting involved.”
