The winner of this year’s event was Laurie Sirrell, Mick Lewis came second.

Previous champions, brothers Jeff and Ronnie Westmoreland, missed out on the top spot this year, Jeff come third, and Ronnie in fifth place.

Ronnie Westmoreland, who helps organise the event each year, said: “The show was well supported by the public.

“Considering the weather that we have had this year the standard of produce shown by the members was also very good.

“We’re looking forward to next year’s event and anyone interested in joining the club are welcome to come along to our next meeting.”

The next Leek Show meeting is on October 5, from 7.30pm, at the Hope and Anchor pub, in Greatham.
