Adopt a healthier lifestyle

AN evening fitness programme is to get under way, aimed at encouraging people adopt a healthier lifestyle.

The 10-week Hartlepool Exercise for Life Programme is run by Hartlepool Borough Council to help people improve their health by becoming active.

Sessions start on Wednesday, February 15, and take place every Wednesday between 6pm and 7pm at the town’s Headland Sports Hall.

Council bosses are urging people to take part and say regular exercise can help with a range of conditions.

Lorraine Harrison, who is co-ordinating the programme, said: “This is an introductory course offering specialist support to those who have been advised to increase their activity levels.

“For example, reducing the long-term risks associated with high blood pressure or high cholesterol levels and particularly those in danger of developing diabetes.

“Regular exercise can help to prevent further decline in people’s health and improve their lifestyle.

“We are fortunate to have the very latest fitness equipment at the Headland Sports Hall along with leading fitness instructors offering help and guidance.”
