AN organiser of a popular annual Hartlepool run today urged women “join me and let’s beat cancer.”
Helen Tibbott, Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life organiser for the North-East, issued a rallying call to runners to beat this “awful disease”.
She said: “I want to invite women in Hartlepool to join me in sending a clear message to cancer, by signing up to Race for Life today.”
This year’s Hartlepool Race For Life run starts at 11am on Sunday, June 30, at its usual spot on the seafront promenade.
Helen called on mums, daughters, sisters, grandmas and friends to “sign up as soon as possible”.
She added: “We are very grateful to everyone who has already entered Race for Life but we urgently need many more.
“We hope women will hear our plea and register as soon as possible.
“Together they will help us create a fantastic atmosphere on the day.
“Every step they take and every pound they raise will help the best research teams develop new treatments, bring cures faster and save more lives.”
Every hour, around two people are diagnosed with cancer in the North-East.
