A STUDENT is hoping for a touch of magic to take her to the finals of a beauty pageant being held in Disneyland Paris.
Holly Lyons has won through to the finals of the Face of Newcastle competition.
The 17-year-old is among 30 hopefuls who will take part in the event at Ramside Hall, in Durham, tomorrow.
The winner of the heat will go on to represent the region in the grand final at Disneyland Paris during a five-day competition in December, where the winner will become the Face of Europe.
Holly, who is studying a national diploma in children’s care, learning and development at Byron Sixth Form College, in Peterlee, is a model with Newcastle-based I Am Models.
By taking part in the competition, she is raising money for the Headway charity, which helps people with head and brain injuries.
Holly, who lives with her parents Valerie, 47, James, 54, and 19-year-old brother Lewis in Briardene Way, Easington Colliery, said: “I only entered the competition at the last-minute and was asked to send my pictures over the internet with a statement as to why I think I should win.
“I would also love to represent the North-East in Paris as I feel it would be a fantastic opportunity as the overall winner has the chance to be the Face of Europe.
“Modelling has always been something I wanted to do, and my family has always supported me.”
During the event she will take part in three rounds – personality, evening wear and Disneyland.
