PUPILS who started at a school in the year England won the world cup are having a reunion.
John Rogan, Trish While Wan, Carol Ferguson (nee Hopkinson) and Margaret Port (nee Horsley) are organising a gathering for former Henry Smith Grammar School pupils who started at the school in 1966 and will be turning 60 this year.
The event will take place at TDSOB Rugby Club, in Wiltshire Way, in Hartlepool, from 7.30pm-11.30pm on Saturday, October 11.
Ex-pupils who remember the year group are also encouraged to attend the reunion.
Former students travelling to the get-together include David Cooper, who is flying from the USA especially for the event.
And organiser John Rogan, a relative of the John Rogan who famously left town to play for 1960s superstar Adam Faith and The Roulettes, is travelling from his home in Bristol.
Margaret said as well as Hartlepool pupils, youngsters from East Durham used to get the bus to the school and a reunion was held 20 years ago. She added that music from their era, including T-Rex will be played on the night.
The group have a number of events planned over the weekend of the reunion, including a visit to “Old Hartlepool” and the former Henry Smith Grammar School site, with details to be confirmed nearer to the date.
Anyone interested in going along to the reunion can email John Rogan at firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm their attendance.
Old friends can keep in touch on the Henry Smith Grammar School Hartlepool Facebook page.
