A night of “Oh my Gods” – that’s how the organiser of a 30th anniversary school reunion described the fabulous event.
Angela Malone (nee Norman) organised a reunion for Henry Smith School’s Class of 1984, held on Saturday at Hartlepool Rovers Quoit Club, in Easington Road.
Around 90 ex-classmates turned up, including Paul Oliver who travelled from Essex, Sharon Horner, from Coventry and Susan Price (nee Maunder) who came from Tewkesbury, in Gloucestershire.
Angela, 45, who is married to Jim and mum to Jake, 11, said: “Everyone was over the moon to see each other.
“There was also about 10 teachers there, including Mrs Clark, Dr Lown, Mr Stirling, Mr Rayner, Mr Doyle, Mr Pout, Mrs Readman, Mrs Crozier and Mrs Pendleton.
“I’m glad I did it,” added Angela, who works with people with learning difficulties.
“I was nervous at first but I was over the moon with the night. Julie Kirby (nee Carter) brought along her Race for Life bucket and collected £100.
“It was fantastic, I was pleased to see everyone and it was just a night full of ‘Oh my Gods’. I’m just pleased it was a good night, I didn’t want it to end.”
Andrea Todd (nee Bell) wrote on Angela’s Facebook wall: “Well what can I say about last nights school reunion? It was and will remain one of the best nights for me.
“I loved seeing each and every one of you, my only downside is it wasn’t long enough.
“Angela Malone you did amazing getting us all in one room after 30 years, there were laughs and tears for some of us, a brilliant night.”
