A VISIT from two former teachers proved to be one of the highlights of a school reunion.
A gathering of 50 ex-pupils of English Martyrs School’s Class of 1985 took place at The Woodcutter pub, in Waverley Terrace, Hartlepool.
Last Friday’s event was organised by former pupil Jane Hammond (nee Dixon).
Among the guests were the year group’s former RE teachers, Michael Lee, now headteacher at the school, and Joe Linden.
Their attendance was organised as a suprise by Susan Howard, who works at the school.
The night, which raised £220 for Hartlepool & District Hospice, was such a success, a date of March 4 has already been set for next year’s reunion, at the same venue.
Jane, 43, who lives in the High Tunstall area, said Claire Twist and Marie Parker both travelled from London to attend the event and Tony Weldon came from Scotland.
“It was lovely to see our teachers and great to see everyone 28 years on,” she added.
The mum-of-two and administrator said amongst the other people there on the night were Marie Lithgo, who has served 25 years in the Army and has just recently settled back in Hartlepool, Jayne Weatherill, who now lives in Newcastle and Tracey Tyreman who also lives in Newcastle, with her two sons.
