IN 1988 Prince Charles paid a visit to Hartlepool to take a look at the plans for the new ambitious marina development which was to provide prestigious leisure , and tourism facilities at the waterside. The Prince also launched the new Neighbourhood Partnership scheme, officially opened the Community Enterprise Centre in Church Street and visited the Woodlands Centre and met members of the public at St Oswald’s Church hall. Also in Hartlepool accompanying the Prince on his visit were Amstrad Corporation boss Alan Sugar, Metro Centre developer John Hall and Gillette director Bob Forrester.
