Clavering primary school orchestra proved to be first class when it came to a battle of the bands at the Saltburn Music Festival in July 1996. The talented youngsters returned to Hartlepool with the much-coveted Storrow Trophy. In 1991 fourth year pupils at West View Primary School were pictured with their letters of goodwill that they were sending to troops serving in the Gulf War. The idea was the brainchild of pupil Elizabeth Waller (nearest camera) whose brother Andrew was serving in the Gulf with the Royal Navy at the time.
