Sisters reunited thanks to Mail

TWO sisters have been reunited thanks to Together Again after 15 years apart.

In last week’s column, Parveen Bashir, who was previously known as Kathleen Greig, issued a heartfelt plea for help to find her sister, Mary Darling Potts. After Mary’s friend spotted the story in last Tuesday’s Mail, Mary recognised herself and contacted Parveen straight away.

An ecstatic Parveen, who now lives in the Handsworth area of Birmingham, said: “Mary got in touch with me.  “I’m coming up to Hartlepool to see her hopefully this week or next.

“I was hoping the Mail could help after I contacted the council’s electoral roll officer and had no luck. She phoned up straight away after her friend saw it in the Mail.

“We were on the phone for over an hour.

“I’m over the moon. Thank you so much.”

Parveen, a 64-year-old mother of three, grandmother-of-eight and great-grandmother-of-four, had left Hartlepool around 50 years ago and lost contact with Mary 15 years ago.

The sisters had grown up in Blake Street and she said Mary’s last known address was Carr Street.
