A MAN who makes a living out of photographs is hoping to make some more memories by planning a school reunion.

Michael Gant, who runs Rainbow Photography, is trying to gauge the level of interest in a reunion for Henry Smith School’s Class of 1978.

The 52-year-old dad to Joshua and Jennifer, who is married to Brenda and lives on the Headland, said: “I’m thinking of organising it possibly for late spring.

“Quite a few people have asked me to organise a reunion.”

Michael, who also sings in a band called Presence, which was formed when he was at school and has been playing recent comeback gigs, added: “The venue would depend on the number of people showing an interest.”

A Facebook page, called Henry Smith’s 1978 School Reunion page, has been set up for people to show their interest and spread the word.

Former pupils who left that year include Caron Harrison, Audrey Wallace, Gillian Waddington, Ali Dawber, Dave Allan, Norma Turner, Leigh Pratt, Dianne Stewart, Alison McGovern, Gill Bravey, Thomas Swanson and Julie Dunn.

Others include Steven Devaney, Charlie Pounder, Kay Shadforth and Kim Elwin.

If it goes ahead, it is thought this will be the third reunion the yeargroup has had, following previous gatherings to mark their 20th and 30th anniversaries of leaving the school.

It will also be open to the group’s former teachers.

When the yeargroup first started at the school, in 1973, it was the first year Henry Smith school had become a comprehensive.
