Picture perfect views of old Hartlepool are the focus of today’s Memory Lane – thanks to postcards from the past.
All four images featured are taken from the book Hartlepool Through the Ages, by Paul Chrystal and Stan Laundon, and feature the town in bygone years.
West Hartlepool General Post Office in Edwardian times, a busy Northgate and a 1930s shot of ships in Hartlepool harbour all provide a snapshot of life in decades past.
But it is, perhaps, the picture of Grange Road which really highlights on-going changes – from the lack of cars, to the glimpse of a long-gone trolley bus.
l Look out next week for a peek at Paul and Stan’s new book, Hartlepool The Postcard Collection. It has just been published by Amberley Publishing at £14.99.
