Today we launch two weeks of festive fun – 1950s-style.

“I’ve been searching through the archives for Christmas snaps, and have unearthed some crackers,” said Mail photographic archivist Susan Swinney.

“Most date from the 1950s and show Christmas trees, festive parties and Yuletide get-togethers. I just hope people like them.”

Among today’s images are shots of two children’s parties, a festive choir and a Crosby Homes Christmas Party for Aged People.

“Sadly, only the Crosby Homes photo includes any detail. None of the others have any names, dates or even information on where they were taken,” said Susan.

“That is the one real problem with most of the photos I’ve unearthed – no details. If anyone has any information, I’d love to hear from them.”
