NINE classmates who left school more than 40 years ago are appealing for help in tracing a special friend.
The nine women, who are all aged 60 and attended the former St Joseph’s Convent School, which was in Grange Road, Hartlepool, between 1961 and 1969, have been having annual reunions for 15 years.
But they say one person is missing – their old friend Susan Ormerod (nee Kehoe).
They would love to hear of Susan’s whereabouts and for her to get in touch in time for their next get-together in July.
Eileen Speight (nee Tate) is appealing for Susan to get in touch.
She said Susan started at the school mid-term and she travelled in from Durham.
Eileen, who now lives with her husband Dermot in Thornaby, regularly gets together with schoolfriends Pauline Wilkinson (nee Robbins), Moira Carter (nee Lightwing), Linda Welburn (nee Robinson), Christine Alexander (nee Callaghan), Pat Hoban, Theresa Simmons (nee Kelly), Carolyn Haldane (nee Dambrosia) and Margaret Turnbull (nee Hewitson).
They usually meet at the Norton Tavern pub, in Norton, and also meet at Pauline’s house in Hartlepool.
But Eileen, who is mum to Adrian, 39, and Richard, 35, and has four grandchildren, said: “We meet up every year, but we have always talked about Susan.
“Nobody in our little group has heard anything about her.
“We usually meet in July and it would be lovely to get in touch with Susan, especially as it is the year we all turn 60.
“We were all a gang together.”
Eileen, who has helped to run the family engraving business, Northern Engravers, in Middlesbrough, since leaving school, added: “A few of us have tried various routes to contact Susan, but sadly to no avail.”
If Susan recognises herself, or if anyone else can help, they can call Eileen on (01642) 247877.
