A WOMAN who was trying to trace a pal from university has received some sad news.
Daphne Hall (nee Senior) appeared in the Mail last month trying to find her friend Sheilagh Roberts from Hartlepool.
They had studied together at the Royal Holloway University in London between 1958 and 1961.
After Daphne’s appeal appeared, she received a call from Sheilagh’s step-sister who told her that sadly Sheilagh had passed away after a short illness in February this year.
Daphne, 71, who taught at Hartlepool High School for Girls, in Elwick Road, in the 1970s and now lives in Hetton-le-Hole, said: “I’ve been contacted by Sheilagh’s step sister as well as a gentleman from Hartlepool who knew her before she went to college.
“She married Army officer Geoffrey Browne in 1963, had two children, a boy and a girl, was later divorced, lived near Marlborough and died after a short illness in February this year.
“Apparently there was an announcement of her death in the Times but I’ve not seen it.
“It seems sad to have found her too late.”
