VILLAGE residents will be getting into the festive spirit for the return of the Christmas Spectacular in Elwick.
Steam engine rides to visit Santa, pony carriage rides, market stalls and Christmas gifts will all be on offer when the all-action market is held in the village next month.
Last year’s event proved an enormous success, raising around £600 for St Peter’s Elwick CE Primary School.
And organisers, the Friends of Elwick, are urging residents to get into the festive spirit for the event, enjoy all things Christmas and help to raise even more money for the school this time around.
The Christmas Spectacular will be held on Saturday, November 30, from 2pm-4pm.
Activities and stalls will take place on the village green, in front of the post office and in both the McOrville Inn and Spotted Cow pubs.
Steve Mailen, a member of the Friends of Elwick group, said: “Last year our Christmas Spectacular was spectacular, it was a fantastic day.
“Hopefully this year will be no different.
“Everything is in place to make it an excellent event once again.
“There’s activities, events, and stalls for all of the family.”
Hot food and festive drinks will be on offer to everyone at the event as the village is transformed into a festive setting.
Steve added: “We usually get fantastic support for all of our events in the village. And after last year’s event was such a success hopefully this one will follow suit.”
A lot of the stalls have already been booked for the event but anyone who is interested in setting up a stall for the Christmas Spectacular is asked to call the Elwick Village Post Office on (01429) 272216.
Meanwhile, people still have chance to sign up and take part in a daring firewalk outside The Spotted Cow, in Elwick, on Tuesday, November 5.
The event will raise money for children’s cancer charity Little Heroes. To sign up can call into the pub or call (01429) 266373.
