A restaurant has been served up with a treat after being crowned the Mail’s Cafe of the Year winner.
RNLS Food Parlour, based in Park Road, Hartlepool, beat strong competition from second-placed Gladys’ Vintage Tea Room, based on The Front, Seaton Carew, and third-placed Mary Lambert, based in Villiers Street, Hartlepool, to win the award.
After being nominated for the title, Mail readers voted RNLS as the winner, and manager Lynne Young was left ‘over the moon’ with the recognition.
She said: “It’s absolutely fantastic, and we’re over the moon to have been voted as the winner.
“We have a lot of regular customers who come back all the time, and we value them very much.
“We also deliver to old age pensioners on dinner times, to ensure they have a hot meal every day.

“Everything is home cooked, even the chips. We’re famous for our homemade chips.
“We also have fresh vegetables every day. We don’t use processed or tinned foods.”
The cafe opened in 2011, and has built up a strong clientele in the four years since.
Manager Lynne has thanked them, and is now set to ensure the trophy awarded for winning the title will take ‘pride of place’ in the cafe.
She added: “The award is going to take pride of place, as we’re extremely proud.
“This is our fourth year open.
“Since we opened, we have had great success and have built up a great base of customers, so this tops it off for us.”
