SUPERMARKET staff have organised the latest in a string of fundraisers for a town charity.
A host of different events and activities have been organised by the kind-hearted staff at the Sainsbury’s Middle Warren store, in Hartlepool’s Bishop Cuthbert estate, since Miles for Men was chosen as its chosen charity of 2013 earlier this year.
Thousands of pounds has already been raised and donated to the town cause, but staff aren’t resting on their laurels and continue in their efforts to rake in the cash.
The next fundraiser won’t be held in store. Instead it will take place at Hartlepool Old Boys Rugby Club on Sunday, December 15.
A fun-filled event is planned with raffle prizes on offer to residents on the night.
Prizes include two tickets to the Metro Radio Arena, in Newcastle for the Strictly Come Dancing tour, signed Hartlepool United and Sunderland shirts, a night for two people at the Grand Hotel, in Hartlepool, and free gym membership at Fit4Less, in the town.
Tickets are selling well and organisers are urging people to head to the Sainsbury’s store, in Mulberry Rise, to buy one of the tickets before they sell out.
Tracie Bestford, PR ambassador in the store, said: “It’s set to be a fantastic night.
“We have some great raffle prizes and the response so far from our customers has been brilliant.
“Miles for Men gets such great support, we have had a brilliant response from our shoppers all year round in all of the events we have organised for the charity.
“The more we raise the better, so hopefully we can sell even more tickets and raise as much as we can next Sunday night.”
Sponsored bike rides, haunting Halloween activities and a celebratory event to mark the birth of the Royal baby have all been organised by staff in the store.
Tickets for next Sunday’s event, which will get underway at 7pm, are priced at £5.
