TONED Sharon Benson will show off her physique in a national bodybuilding competition today.

The mum of two won a place in the Miss Toned national finals of the National Amateur Body-Builders’ Association (NABBA).

It is after she came first in a regional bodybuilding competition held in Hartlepool just a few weeks ago.

Sharon, has only been training at Ellwood’s Gym in Horden for around a year.

The bridal make-up artist said: “It was a massive surprise to me to win the regional Miss Toned as it was my first competition.

“I was up against seasoned competitors. Even on the day I didn’t feel ready.

“I would have been quite happy just to come in the top six but they started reading the names out and it got to the last two.

“I was just gobsmacked and blown away to actually win.

“I am looking forward to the final this weekend. I will be up against women from all over the country but I will just think of it as an experience.

“I am just going to go and enjoy it.”
Sharon has achieved her top shape by training six days a week in the gym and sticking to a strict high protein diet of chicken, rice, and vegetables.

She added: “The Miss Toned category is still quite feminine, it is about looking naturally toned and not being too defined or hard.

“It was just a personal goal that I set myself after I split up from my partner just to give me a bit of a kick and I wanted to do something for me.”

Today’s final is being held in Southport.
