THREE soldiers will embark on a gruelling 10.4-mile run around Hartlepool before taking the plunge in this year’s Boxing Day dip.

Hartlepool Lance Corporals Mark Jacobs and brothers David and Chris Nealon will carry rucksacks containing 45kg weights round town before taking part in the dip at Seaton Carew, from 11am on Thursday.

The trio are raising funds for Blackhall cancer sufferer Bradley Lowery, after being touched by the two-year-old’s plight.

Mark, a 26-year-old dad-of-three from Seaton Carew, who is in 1st Battalion 1 Yorks Regiment, said the friends hope to have raised at least £400 in sponsorship.

Mark, David, 22, and Chrissy, 20, from West View, who are members of 3rd Battalion The Rifles, will don combat trousers and T-shirts printed with Bradley’s image on to take part.

Mark said: “I hope Bradley pulls through and that this makes a better Christmas for him.”

The trio can be sponsored via Mark’s Facebook page.
