Hartlepool’s lifeguards are reminding people of some important advice to help them have a safe time at the seaside on warm days during the half-term holidays.

The lifeguards will be patrolling the beach at Seaton Carew and the Headland’s Block Sands and Fish Sands on weekends, the bank holiday and half-term holiday up to the start of the school summer holidays.

Then, during the busier school summer holiday period itself, they will be on duty every day from Saturday, July 18, to Tuesday, September 1.

The lifeguards have issued a number of safety tips including:

• Swim where the lifeguards patrol – within the areas marked by the red and yellow marker flags.

• Never go into the water when the red flags are flying.

• Be aware of the incoming tides.

• Never leave children unattended.

• Don’t use inflatables.
