TRIBUTE was today paid to the founder of a Tees Valley company who has died aged 78.
Bill Beadnell (below), the chairman of Billingham-based North East Truck & Van (NETV), was praised for the solid foundations which he set for the company and upon which NETV is continuing to build.
Sandy McDonald, managing director of NETV, said: “Many of the things that are best in NETV today are because of what Bill and his fellow co-founders instilled into the culture of our company.
“This is a heritage and culture that I have been proud to be a part of. Together with my colleagues, we will work hard to continue building on these solid foundations.”
Bill was one of the original founders of NETV in 1969.
During the company’s growth he was sales director, managing director and latterly chairman.
While no longer involved in the day-to-day operation of NETV, Bill maintained an enthusiastic interest in company strategy and maintenance of quality standards. He was also actively involved in the National Truck Committee of the Retail Motor Industry.
In 2001, he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Business Administration from the University of Sunderland and was chairman of the University Development Trust. He was also a Vice President of Sunderland AFC.
He leaves a wife, Marina, and son Kevin.
