AN eight-week course is being launched to help women keep fit.
‘Women’s Begin 2 Cycle’ is run by Hartlepool Borough Council’s Sports Development Team and is aimed at women who have not tried cycling before.
The council’s assistant sports development officer, Liam Lewis, said: “This is a great chance for women to try cycling, increase their fitness and socialise on a relaxed and friendly course which also covers the all-important skills of essential cycle maintenance and repairs.”
The course, held at Summerhill country park is split into two four-week halves, the first of which made up of cycling lessons every Wednesday from 4.30pm to 5.30pm starting August 24.
The second half will focus on bike maintenance and is on Tuesdays from October 18 from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
“Cycling is an excellent way of getting out into the countryside, relaxing and keeping fit and we hope that people will get a real taste for it on our course and continue with it after that”, added Mr Lewis.
