Gareth Southgate insisted he will remain patient as Middlesbrough attempt to build upon their double transfer breakthrough.
The Teessiders will officially unveil Dutchman Marvin Emnes and French counterpart Didier Digard tomorrow after making a total investment of around £7.2million on Friday.

Boro signed the pair after weeks of negotiations with Digard's move from Paris St Germain in particular taking time to complete.

They are also understood to have an interest in Reading's James Harper, although having welcomed his new arrivals and the rest of his squad back for pre-season training yesterday, Southgate is relaxed about the pursuit of his remaining targets.

He said: "There are a couple of other players where we are monitoring the situation with their clubs.

"I'm pleased we have got two players in. With any other players, if it takes a bit of time, then so be it."

Boro's plans, however, could depend upon what happens with former skipper George Boateng and fellow midfielder Gary O'Neil.

The 32-year-old Dutchman, who has a year remaining on his current contract, is talking to potential employers, with Hull and Celtic leading to race for his signature, after indicating his intention to leave the Riverside Stadium.

In addition, Southgate will hold talks with former Portsmouth midfielder O'Neil, who has been the subject of persistent speculation that he could leave the club just a year after moving to the club.

The 25-year-old initially struggled to settle after his £5million switch from Pompey, although the manager is hopeful of retaining his services.

Southgate, who revealed there have been no enquiries about the player, said: "We are going to sit down and see how he (O'Neil) feels about everything.

"He's someone we don't want to sell. In the first half of last season, he was an outstanding player for us."
O'Neil did not train with the rest of the squad yesterday as he continues his recovery from a knee problem, but there were two welcome faces among the men who were put through their paces at Rockliffe Park.
Striker Mido and central defender Robert Huth, who have been plagued by injuries during their time at the Riverside, were both able to join in and provide their manager with another boost.
Southgate told the club's official website, www.mfc.co.uk: "Mido has been working with one of our fitness coaches in Egypt for four weeks during the summer.
"That was something he organised for himself and he has come back in good condition.
"Rob is another player who we saw for a spell last season what an outstanding player he is. That's why I'm quite comfortable about the squad.
"The size is about right and it's also important we don't block the way forward for some good young players we have coming through."
