Boro let Boateng talk to Hull
Middlesbrough have given George Boateng permission to talk to a rival Premier League club as he moves closer to a transfer from the Riverside.
Newly-promoted Hull City are believed to be particularly keen on the 32-year-old Dutch midfielder.
And agent Barry Silkman told BBC Sport: "A Premier League club know what the fee would be and have asked to speak to the player and his representative.
"I will be speaking to them, probably on Tuesday."
Two other Premier League clubs have shown strong interest and could also make official approaches this week.
But, while Silkman did not wish to name the interested clubs, he said there had been no contact with Celtic, despite newspaper reports linking the Scottish champions with an interest in the player.
I would have thought that given his good service, we'd let him go for just over a mill
Boateng said in March that he would be happy to remain at Middlesbrough as long as he remained a first-team regular.
"He has a year left on his contract, but he's been there for five or six years and given them good service," said Silkman.
"He played about 80 per cent of the season, but he just thinks that maybe it is the right time to move on.
"Middlesbrough recognise he has been a great professional and say they won't hold out for a king's ransom should he wish to leave and won't stand in his way."
Boateng joined Boro from Aston Villa for £5m in 2002.
