MIDDLESBROUGH boss Gareth Southgate has done his first piece of trasnsfer business of the summer.
Boro have signed tricky winger Mark Yeates after the Republic of Ireland B international signed a three-year contract.

The 24-year-old former Spurs player leaves Colchester United for the Riverside for an undisclosed fee.

The Dubliner spent Thursday at Boro's Rockliffe Park training ground, where he agreed personal terms and passed a medical.

Yeates scored 25 goals in 116 league games for Colchester, including 13 goals in all competitions for the League One side last season.

Southgate said: "We've got a lad who has played in this division before and scored a lot of goals over the last two seasons."
